RUSD offers a variety of services through the School Social Worker Office as a way of continually working towards empowering students to become self-sufficient and healthy young adults. The purpose of the School Social Worker is to serve as a link between families, school staff, and community agencies in providing support to students and families. Responsibilities and services include:
Step-by-Step Peer Program-Group of RHS students participate in activities and projects that focus on improving their school and community.
Crisis Intervention-Provide immediate services in emergency situations to students & families
Support Groups-Open groups that facilitate discussion of topics of interest such as: Teen Pregnancy, Parenting, Parent-Teen Communication, and others support groups TBA.
Student Meetings -Assist students in coping with challenges and struggles (short term service only-if more in-depth service needed community referral will be made).
Family Meetings-collaborate with family members to strengthen family bonds and communication
Community Referrals-Serve as an intercessor for students and their family in dealing the school system, community agencies and institutions
Supervision of Interns- Supervise on-going activities of social work interns from California State University, Stanislaus
